postheadericon Roadmap 2050 - pathway to a decarbonised power sector

13 April 2010

The European Climate Foundation (ECF) has published its new report titled the 'Roadmap 2050' which shows how the EU power sector can be fully decarbonised by 2050.

The mission of Roadmap 2050 is to provide a practical, independent and objective analysis of pathways to achieve a low-carbon economy in Europe, in line with energy security, environmental and economic goals of the European Union. The Roadmap 2050 project has been developed by a consortium of experts funded by the ECF.

Latest Briefing Paper Assesses Copenhagen Accord pledges and implied greenhouse gas emissions

Current developments in Project Catalyst research take stock of the pledges made to the Copenhagen Accord as of the February 1, 2010 soft deadline.

The 14 page document, published by Project Catalyst, provides an overview of the outcomes from the UNFCCC's COP 15 meeting in terms of emission reduction pledges, but also lays bare the necessity for stronger and more ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) cutting targets.

"This latest report looks at the emissions implications of the pledges to the Copenhagen Accord," said the European Climate Foundation's Tom Brookes. He went on to say that it would be a useful document to read and share for anyone interested in the actual effects on emissions reductions of global climate negotiations.

postheadericon ECF Fellow Bert Metz’s book 'Controlling Climate Change' published

24 November 2009. Project Catalyst is proud to announce the publication of a new book from ECF fellow and scientific advisory board member Bert Metz. Titled Controlling Climate Change, it gives an extensive overview of practical solutions and policies available for solving the climate change problem, while pursuing social and economic development and growth.

No one has put together as encompassing and profound understanding of the scientific and politics of climate change as has Bert Metz. Whether as negotiator, analyst or leading force in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Metz brings to the global debate the ability to bridge the clarity demanded by the lay public to the intellectual subtlety of an experts’ expert. A book for our time that looks far beyond. Thomas C. Heller, Head of the Climate Policy Initiative and Professor of International Legal Studies, Stanford University.

This book will be available from December 2009.
