Good Sleep and Precision Cut Mattresses: Why Size Matters for Restful Sleep

Custom Size Mattresses

Twin Size MattressWhat constitutes restful sleep? Is it the position you are in when the drowsiness takes over, or does it also take into account the position you are actually in? Most people assume that restful sleep is solely dependent on internal factors like body clock and what you eat, but it is a fact that the kind of bed you sleep on can affect how restful your sleep is.

But what is the ideal size of bed for a restful sleep? You cannot answer the question that easily, unfortunately, as your choice of bed depends on many factors.

Mattresses and Measurements

Typically, the mattress that you will be getting should be small enough to fit inside your bedroom but large enough for you. A bit of moving space is also necessary, as you would not want to fall off the bed if the mattress you get is exactly the same size as your body.

Custom Size Beds adds that while “ordering a standard size mattress online can be confusing even at the best of times”, it is a lot easier if you consider your measurements carefully. A Twin size mattress, for example, while ideal for dormitories and apartments, may actually be too small for a regular adult.

This, however, only applies to the standard size mattress; the full size twin mattress is actually spacious enough and has enough moving space for even the fussiest of sleepers, while still well within the measurements of the living space itself. The extra space may seem unnecessary, but you will not exactly get restful sleep if your legs keep dangling off the ledge or keep falling of the bed.

Foam or Spring Mattress?

When it comes to choosing the type of mattress, the choice often boils down to either spring or foam. Spring has always been the widely trusted and reliable one since the steel coil support system offers ample support and greater distribution over the mattress space, which in turn grants better contour and support for the sleeper.

Foam, on the other hand, uses a combination of spring and the aforementioned foam to establish support within the mattress. Many actually prefer foam to spring but others, who are used to the more conventional mattress type argue that foam can be uncomfortable to sleep on at times.

In the end, you should always test out the mattress before you buy it. The foam or spring mattress may look comfortable, but looks can be deceiving.

When you are choosing a mattress, it pays to take time and consider all the factors before you make the choice. Apart from the size of the mattress itself, you should also consider the actual type you will be purchasing as it may have different comfort levels than the one that you are used to.
